A4u Casino & Gambling in Birmingham review

Affiliate Experts Discussion Panel
“helpful advice from the affiliate experts”

I said I would talk again about Friday’s a4uEvents Casino & Gaming event at Villa Park. In the photo above you can see me on the right sat with the rest of the affiliate experts panel for the Q&A discussion. Sat for the panel are from left to right: Kate Blackmore (32Red.com), Philippe Bailly (Referback), Catherine van Battum (Brand Conversions), myself and just out of shot Michael Caselli (Lyceum Publishing).

Michael gave a very interesting and entertaing presentation on the state of things in the industry and talked about business post UIGEA. Some points I remember from his presentation:

For those companies still trying to do business in the US, they are still operating and customers want to gamble with them, but they are struggling to find ways to fund their accounts.

WSOP Entries Down in 2007

This years World Series of Poker is likely to have half the entries as last year. Companies are no longer allowed to directly pay for players to enter the event, so you are likely to see players choosing to keep the $10,000 entry or spending it on entering multiple events outside the main one. There are also just a lot less packages available to be won as the number of people playing are down in the online poker rooms.

Gambling in Germany to explode in 2012

Gambling in Germany is set to boom, there is a population of 82 million people, but currently they do not have as much access to gamble. They have decent level of interest in playing poker. With shows on tv where freeroll winners get to play celebrities and poker leagues across the nation. It is a cross section that are interested in playing, not just young men as in somewhere like Sweden.

The German gambling treaty expires in 2012, things are going to get a lot bigger then.

Spain has a tradition of long odds gambling doing well, lotteries have been big there and bingo is starting to do well. Poker is catching on.

Michael has something pretty cool going on at tiltspace.com it is like myspace but for gamblers, want to be the next big thing on TV in the poker world, use this to get yourself noticed and sponsored. It is a good social networking idea.

Super Casino junkets?

Interesting to hear that Michael thinks that the new super casino could offer junkents. So you could get paid per head that you send through the door, you then with that money are free to entertain your guests as you please to reward them for going to the casino with you. A real life affiliate programme and you get to comp the players how you see fit.

It will make going to the casino an even more acceptable leisure activity.

I’m going to answer the questions posed in the Q&A expert panel in seperate posts as this one is getting a little long.. more soon.
