Affiliate Marketing Blog from Kandevil

I have just posted thread on a4u about this, but thought it worth adding here too, as there is slightly different audience here and I wanted to reach as many affiliates as possible.

Kitbag are running a banner advert on their site at present, which is directing traffic to a competition run by another affiliate.

If you work with Kitbag then if one of your users, sent via your affiliate link clicks through on the banner (shown above, check your links see if you see the same),  and ends up actually making their purchase with Kitbag via the other affiliate’s links (good chance, they have a 15% off offer displayed on the first page) then they will hijack your visitor and commission.

I gave John at Kitbag a call to bring this to their attention before posting, unfortunately their response was:

The “banner links to the voting section, so is not directly leaking …. but I do understand your concern.

As we are sponsoring this event, we agreed to send some traffic to them for a short while to plug the awards for best boots, best brand etc. Will be removed toward the end of the week.”

Now I am actually better off than most, as I have the kitbag white label on one of my sites so it overrides the banner, but not some others, so I am giving free traffic to another affiliate! Are you too?

Solution - only show these adverts via non-affiliate links, just like you would do when hiding a phone number via affiliate links…
