Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery

Just noticed the new Affiliate Window adverts plugging themselves for the Affiliate Marketing Awards. Couple of things came to my attention.
- They’ve used the same idea as I had of having a South Park version of yourself
- Matt Wood is a revenue generating genius
So first off I’ve had a South Park character in a Blackburn Rovers shirt as my avatar on Affiliates4u for years! I don’t mind AW doing the same though and I think they look great! I wasn’t exactly the first person to think about it and they won’t be the last. Check out a screen shot here:

While you are at it vote Julie Wood as Publisher’s Account Manager of 2008, click here. I had the pleasure of Julie’s company on the IWOOT trip to Whistler and one thing I learned whilst in Canada (as well as the snowboarding), was that when it comes to Affiliate Marketing, Julie really knows her stuff, she takes a good photo too, here is myself, Paul, Jamie & Julian from left to right on the slopes:

I digress, back to my second point.
Matt Wood is a revenue generating genuis:
Matt has moved the affiliate awards to a separate event, had individual vertical sponsors, sold tables and tickets; there were over 320 guests attending before they released another 4 tables and now is SOLD OUT, there must be 360 going to be there. Individual tickets were £95 and a table of 10 was £1,550.
I won’t be attending the awards myself, not really my thing, I think this is a much more big business focused event and unless you want to travel down to London for a fancy night out, not really worth it. I would expect most tables have been taken by the agencies and networks and some of the larger companies, unless affiliates have been given/won a ticket I’m not sure how many self employed/one man company affiliates will be there. Kieron did organise a table of affiliates which is a great idea for anyone who did want to attend.
Anyway now Matt has networks paying for advertising on affilates4u (as per the AW advert above), in an attempt to win the awards that Matt is giving out, which the network is paying to attend. You can’t beat that can you, make some money from every angle, good work Matt.
